Banyak toko — terutama yang jual barang rumah tangga atau perkakas kecil seperti ember, baskom, atau kemasan plastik — menjual produk yang sama dalam beberapa satuan sekaligus: per pcs (satuan) untuk pembeli langsung, per lusin untuk pembeli agak banyak, dan per dus untuk pembeli grosir atau reseller kecil. Kalau aplikasi kasir cuma mengerti "satu produk = satu satuan", karyawan harus menghitung sendiri setiap ada transaksi di luar satuan dasar: berapa pcs yang sebenarnya terjual kalau pembeli beli 3 dus, dan harga apa yang berlaku untuk pembelian sebanyak itu. 住まい用品や小さな金物 — バケツ、たらい、プラスチック製品など — を扱う店舗の多くは、同じ商品を複数の単位で同時に販売しています。個人客には個数（pcs）単位、まとめ買いにはダース単位、卸売り客や小規模の再販業者にはダンボール箱（dus）単位、といった具合です。レジアプリが「1商品＝1単位」しか理解できない場合、基本単位以外の取引が発生するたびに、スタッフは自分で計算しなければなりません — 客が3箱買ったら実際に何個売れたことになるのか、その数量にはどの価格が適用されるのか。 A lot of shops — especially ones selling household goods or small hardware like buckets, basins, or plastic containers — sell the same product in several units at once: by the piece for a walk-in customer, by the dozen for someone buying a bit more, and by the box for wholesale buyers or small resellers. If the POS only understands "one product, one unit," staff have to do the math themselves every time a sale falls outside the base unit: how many pieces actually left the shelf if a customer buys 3 boxes, and what price applies at that volume.

The ratio and price are set per product, not applied uniformly, because manufacturer packaging genuinely differs from item to item. At checkout, the cashier just picks which unit is being sold; the system calculates the price and deducts stock based on the real piece count — not just subtracting "1" per line.

If the POS forces everything into one unit, staff carry the cost: manual math every time a sale falls outside the base unit, with miscalculation risk quietly building up in the stock data. Training staff to calculate more carefully isn't the fix — that puts the responsibility for accuracy in the wrong place. The fix is a system that understands a product's unit structure from the start, so accuracy doesn't depend on who happens to be at the register that day.
